We propose a measure that distinguishes between classical and quantum particles based on addition-then-subtraction operation. We show how the operation is particularly useful for our purpose by investigating the behaviours of classical and quantum particles under addition and sub- traction operations. After showing that the measure can distinguish between classical, bosonic, and fermionic particles we go on to investigate multi-particle bosonic systems, which exhibit bunching phenomena, in detail. Experimental schemes to detect the measure for bosons are provided, first in an all-optical setup and also in an atom-cavity system.
