We show that entropic formulations of the uncertainty principle give lower bounds on the quantum correlations produced in measurements, hence connecting two key differences between quantum and classical physics. This is based on a general connection between the uncertainty of an observable and the entanglement and discord created upon measuring that observable, and we discuss how this is related to the convergence of quantum correlation measures for so-called premeasurement states. This work should encourage exploration into "uncertainty relations" for entanglement and discord.
