A Limitation of the Nakajima-Zwanzig projection method    [PDF]

We show that the Nakajima-Zwanzig and the related projection methods are system-environment split specific. The master equations and the related information provided by a projection method cannot be used simultaneously to describe an alternative open system. We emphasize subtlety and possible usefulness of the task of describing dynamics of the alternate system-environment splits.
